Baby Bear Hugs

A quick public service announcement:  Click HERE for limited time specials. There are some great deals! Now back to the fun stuff!

It's finally sweater weather here! Which means I'm cold all the time. But I recently got a heartwarming card from a friend, and got permission to share it here. (Many thanks to my  DSA!)

Such sweet bears!

The bears are so cute with their cheerful bows, and check out the background! That lovely texture is made with the Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It has really deep impressions, so it's almost like holding an actual sweater. (I really like sweaters!)

I hope everyone is enjoying some happy autumn stamping!

Christmas Card Surprise

It's early for me to even think about designing my Christmas cards (not December yet), but my friend Brenda Quintana has given me inspiration. We both love the possibilities of the Sweet Home stamp set and Home Sweet Home Thinlits dies. We both also love cards that do something. What, you may be thinking, could a card with a house do?

     It's pop-up time!

As a member of Brenda's Bee Stampers Team, I got to see and test out her Home Sweet Home Pop-Up Card Tutorial. (Thanks, Brenda!)

Here's my idea:

The reindeer from the Foxy Friends stamp set and Fox Builder Punch looks so sweet in his holiday home!

This card makes me so happy!

You might know that there are a lot of little dies in the Home Sweet Home thinlits. I had to adapt the storage so I could keep up with them all, and I want to share it with you.

The first thing I do when I get a die set that has a lot of dies, before I even use it, is to take the sheet out of the envelope and photocopy it. No piecing a puzzle together after a long session of stamping: the photocopy shows me exactly where each die fits nicely AND helps me be sure that all of the dies in the set are put away. My second step: cut the photocopy to fit on the die storage sheet. Then I cut a magnet sheet to fit on the storage sheet. Next, I tape the photocopy to the magnet sheet, transfer the dies to the magnet, and once the storage sheet is free of dies, stick it onto the back of the magnet sheet for sturdiness. It's a quick and easy way to keep all those little dies safe.

Happy stamping!

Happy Little Haunted House

New classes coming up! Please click HERE for information.

Summer is ending, which makes me sad, but Autumn is setting in, which means gorgeous colors and cute Hallowe'en decorations, which makes me happy.

The Sweet Home stamp set and the Home Sweet Home Thinlets Dies struck a happy note with me when I saw the oh-so-cute haunted house sample. The tiny bats! The diffident little ghosties--they aren't sure if they should be scared of you or not, but I think they would like to be friends. AND the house is easy to fill with sweet treats or little surprises!

    Here's my little haunted house:

Such a sweet little bat!

Don't scare the ghosties!
Vellum and White Emboss Powder make perfect ghosts!
Look closely--who is watching you?

The ghosties have told me that as soon as Hallowe'en is over, they will be decorating for Christmas. I can't wait to see it!

Memphis in the Summer

We have had some interesting weather patterns here lately. Lots of rain, lots of sun, and more localized cloudbursts than I can remember ever before. Memphis weather not only inspires conversations, but also poetry.  (Didn't see that coming, did you?)

My sister was inspired to compose a haiku about this year's weather. When she suggested I illustrate it, I knew just what to do! Some of my new favorite dies came in to play.

I lovelovelove the raindrops from the Umbrella Weather Framelits! As you might guess, though, keeping lots of itty bitty drops from being lost while work is in progress can be challenging. My solution:
A sticky note with the adhesive die up keeps all those lovely drops handy, findable, and off of my sleeves and lap. And floor...they do like to travel if they get the chance!

What do you think?
I'd love to see art inspired by your weather!

Shake, Spin, and Shine!

Have I mentioned that the 2016-2017 catalog is my favorite catalog from the past five years?  Look at this:

Put those dies with this stamp set:

Shooting Star Clear-Mount Stamp Set

Oh-so-cute! (And they are sold separately AND as a Bundle which gives you a 10% discount!)

But I can't stop there. I had to add a shaker window to my card. Here it is:

I love interactive cards! This card spins and has a fun shaker element.
Confession time:  It's usually best to use an acetate window sheet for the shaker window, but I didn't have a piece big enough for this card. (Note to self, order more window sheets!) I stole a clear envelope from my stash, cut it apart, sandwiched a piece between two layers of printer paper, and was able to punch a perfect piece to use as a window. I also didn't have any sequins in the proper colors, so I snuck some out of my Banner Surprise Paper Pumpkin kit. I wanted more stars, so I grabbed my favorite punch, the Confetti Stars Border, and a sheet of Silver Foil Paper (didn't have to sneak or steal, what a relief!) and have lots and lots of lovely silver stars.

I hope you are having some happy stamping time, too!
